Our Bright Future — Cybernetic Fantasy
Our bright Future — Cybernetic Fantasy is an exhibition of contemporary artists' thought on rapid changing of technology environment via the form of world fair.
The title of exhibition ‘Our Bright Future’ is a question, not a simple optimism. I tried to put both bright and dark prospect on the main theme of the exhibition to the poster. A spinning building(in the moving version) that consisted of the text of ‘Cybernated Art’ in Manifestos (1965) by Nam June Paik and the fireworks are creating a bright atmosphere as if an event of the world fair while repeating-distorted monochrome noise is creating dystopian anxiety on the future.
백남준 아트센터에서 열리는 <우리의 밝은 미래 — 사이버네틱 환상> 전시는 놀라운 속도로 변화하고 있는 기술 환경에 대한 동시대 예술가의 사유를 기술박람회의 형태로 담아낸 전시이다.
‘우리의 밝은 미래’라는 전시 타이틀은 단순한 낙관론이 아닌 하나의 질문이다. 백남준이 1965년에 발표한 <사이버네틱 예술> 선언의 텍스트를 재료로 하여 파빌리온을 짓고, 이 파빌리온은 미래를 예측해보는 담론의 장이 된다. 폭죽이 터지는 박람회의 밝은 분위기를 연출하는 동시에, 일체 색상을 사용하지 않은 흑백톤의 이미지를 반복적으로 일그러뜨려 미래에 대한 불안함을 조성한다.
