Korean Gardens — Soswaewon, A Mystic Promenade
The most significant characteristic that differentiates Korean gardens from other East Asian gardens is that Korean gardens borrow scenery instead of enclosing it. The exhibition “Korean Gardens: Soswaewon, A Mystic Promenade” enables visitors to experience Soswaewon Garden, one of the most prominent gardens of Korea located in Damyang. In order to express the concept of borrowed scenery of the garden, stacked typography was used to create a graphic scenery and architectural forms of Korean gardens were added to complete the borrowed scenery.
한국 정원을 동아시아의 다른 정원들과 구분짓는 가장 큰 특징은, 자연을 정원 안에 가두지 않고 빌리는 ‘차경’이라는 개념이다. <한국의 정원: 소쇄원, 낯설게 산책하기>는 한국의 대표 정원인 담양의 ‘소쇄원’을 서울에서 체험할 수 있는 전시로, 한국 정원의 차경을 표현하기 위해 타이포그래피를 쌓아 그래픽 풍경을 만들고 그 위에 한국 정원의 건축물 그래픽을 더해 그래픽 차경을 완성했다.
